Human trafficking, cyber fraud ops sa Clark, iimbestigahan

Naghain si Senadora Grace Poe ng isang resolusyon para siyasatin ang di umano’y human trafficking at cyber fraud operation sa Clark Sun Valley Hub Corporation.

“We need to uncover the true scale and roots of human trafficking in the country. This is an insidious crime that must stop,” sabi ni Poe, chairperson ng Senate committee on public services.

Inihain ni Poe ang Senate Resolution No. 595 kasunod nang isinagawang raid sa isang kumpanya na nag-o-operate sa loob ng Clark Freeport Zone na nagresulta sa pag-rescue ng kabuuhang 1,048 biktima na human trafficking na may iba’t ibang nasyonalidad kabilang ang mga Pilipino.

Ang mga nailigtas na mga manggagawa ay napaulat na pinipilit na magtrabaho sa cyber fraud na kinasasangkutan ng cryptocurrencies.

There is an urgent need to determine the supposed existence and cease the operations of these ‘scam hubs’ in the country for the protection of our citizens and foreign nationals that are being victimized by this kind of human trafficking scheme,” ayon sa mambabatas.

Dagdag pa ng senadora, dapat paigtingin rin ng ibang law enforcement agencies tulad Philippine National Police National Bureau of Investigation, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission and the Inter-Agency Council on Anti-Trafficking ang kanilang operasyon laban sa human trafficking ng mga dayuhan sa bansa,

Binanggit pa ni Poe ang pagdinig ng Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality noong Abril 19, 2023 na nagbunyag sa pananatili ng ‘scam hubs’ sa Pilipinas na sangkot sa cyber fraud operations at pagpapalusot ng mga dayuhang manggagawa sa bansa.

Nabisto din sa pagdinig ang mga scam hub na ito at ang operasyon ng Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators sa bansa ay pagkakapareho sa kanilang scheme at maaaring “simply just one operation that’s happening underneath many operations.”

“Our inquiry sends the message to traffickers that this crime won’t be tolerated and will be dealt with the full force of the law,” saad pa ni Poe.

Sa datos mula sa United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, naiulat na may kabuuhang 112,881 dayuhan ay biktima ng human trafficking sa Pilipinas mula 2007 hanggang 2020.
