BINARA ni dating Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice ang panukala ni Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves na palitan ang pangalan ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at gawing Ferdinand E. Marcos International Airport.
Paliwanag ni Erice na deserve ng yumaong Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. ang karangalan para ipangalan sa huli ang naturang paliparan.
“He was assassinated and died on the airport’s tarmac defending our country’s democracy from the dictatorial rule of Pres. Marcos. His death catalyzed the peaceful movement that restored a democratic government that made Rep Arnie Teves to be able to say as many crazy things as he had, courtesy of a free and democratic legislature,” sambit ni Erice.
Si Erice, ay matagal nang kaalyado ng mga Aquino.
Naniniwala si Erice na hindi ito seseryosohin ng mga miyembro ng House of Representatives o maging si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“I believe it’s just in aid of ‘sipsip pa more’ maneuver, freedom loving Filipinos must be vigilant in any act that will revise our history,” dagdag ni Erice.
Inihain ni Teves ang House Bill 619 na naglalayong ipangalan kay Marcos ang NAIA dahil sa naambag na ideya at pagsasakapuran ng nasabing proyekto.
