NAGING emosyonal si Pinoy pole vaulter EJ Obiena makaraang mabigong makakuha ng medalya sa men’s vault final sa Paris Olympics 2024 nitong madaling araw ng Martes sa State de France.
Nagtapos bilang fourth place si EJ. Aniya, “There’s a lot of things that happened this year, I’m thankful that I got to the final, definitely.”
“But at the same time, I’m disappointed because it wasn’t far, it’s like, literally the same height and I missed it by one attempt… One attempt to an Olympic medal,” sabi ni EJ sa isang panayam.
“It’s not something I expected, it’s not something I was aiming for. I’m happy for everybody who’ve got the medal, they deserved it. I’m happy for my friends but it doesn’t give me a little bit of shade of less pain,” dagdag pa niya.
Humingi rin ng paumanhin ang atleta para sa mga sumuporta sa kanya.
“I apologize. I promised I’m gonna go back after Tokyo and do better. I did but it didn’t change in my book, it’s still… I came up short. So, I’m really sorry. I apologize for it. We’ll see how it goes,” aniya pa. (RON TOLENTINO)
