DSWD KUMILOS KASUNOD NG PAGSABOG NG BULKANG KANLAON

PERSONAL na nagtungo si Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian sa Negros Oriental ngayong araw upang pangasiwaan ang disaster response operation para sa mga pamilya na apektado ng pagsabog ng Bulkang Kanlaon kagabi.

Nakipagkita siya sa mga opisyal mula sa field offices ng DSWD sa Western at Central Visayas, na pinamumunuan nina DSWD-Field Office 6 Regional Director Carmelo N. Nochete at  DSWD-Field Office 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero, upang talakayin ang disaster response plans at tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng mga apektadong pamilya sa nasabing mga rehiyon.

Sa naturang pagpupulong, ipinag-utos ni Gatchalian ang pamahahagi ng food packs sa 40,000 pamilya sa Negros Island at Bacolod City sa Huwebes.

Bukod pa ito sa karagdagang food packs na ipamamahagi mula sa DSWD field office.

Kasalukuyang mayroong available na 72,235 food packs para ipamahagi sa DSWD Western Visayas at Central Visayas field offices.

Nakatakdang dumalo si Gatchalian, kasama si DSWD Undersecretary for Disaster Response Management Group Diana Rose Cajipe, sa coordination meeting sa concerned local government units.

“We have to show people we are on top of the situation, even before it turns for the worst. Let’s pray for the least damage, but let’s prepare for the worst,” Gatchalian aniya.

“We have to prepare for the worst. So we have to make sure that. Just keep monitoring. And I want you to be proactive. Talk to your governors regularly, talk to your mayors, talk to your congressmen,” dagdag niya.
