Bigong maingat ang buhay ng mga manggagawa mula sa below poverty wages nang inilabas na umento sa sahod ng wage boards sa 14 na rehiyon sa bansa, ayon sa Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP).
Ang pagtaas umano sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo ay magpapataas sa presyo ng bilihin at serbisyo na magpapaliit sa buying power ng mga manggagawa.
“Because of extraordinary inflation, the series of wage increase orders issued by the wage boards failed to restore the purchasing power of wages and it didn’t uplift workers’ purchasing power above poverty threshold wage level,” ayon kay TUCP President Raymond Mendoza.
Ayon sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), naglabas na ng wage order ang 14 na regional wage board. Nagkakahalaga ito ng P30 hanggang P110 at mayroong mga rehiyon na unti-unti ang gagawing pagtataas.
