BILANG NG FRONTLINERS NG BI NA TINAMAAN NG COVID-19, TUMAAS

MAYNILA – Napansin ng Bureau of Immigration ang malaking pagtaas ng bilang ng COVID-19 cases sa kanilang mga frontliners na nakatalaga sa paliparan at tanggapan ng BI.

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, umabot sa 251 ang aktibong kaso ng COVID sa mga tauhan nito ang naiulat sa kanya.

 “We’re seeing a record-high number of active Covid cases this past week,” saad ni Morente.  “This is alarming and we are doing the best to be able to sustain our operations,” dagdag niya.

Ibinahagi ni Morente na sa 251 aktibong kaso, 135 ang naka-assign sa paliparan, 91 sa main office ng BI sa Intramuros at 25 ay nanggaling sa iba pang BI offices.

Naka-quarantine na rin ang 269 airport personnel at naghahihintay ng resulta ng kanilang COVOD-19 testing.

 “This is severely affecting our operations both at the airports as well as in our offices,” wika ni Morente.

Inihayag ni Morente na hiniling niya sa Department of Justice (DOJ) ang pagbabawas ng kanilang on-site work force, kasunod ng matinding bilang ng mga positibong empleyado. Ang DOJ ang mother department ng BI at pinangangasiwaan ang mga operasyon nito.

“We have also prepared a rapid response team on standby to augment our frontlines to ensure that our services remain unhampered,” aniya.

 Ipinag-utos din ni Morente ang pagbibigay ng antigen testing sa mga tauhan nito na nalantad sa virus. Ibinahagi niya na sa 38 na swab kaninang umaga sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport, 4 ang napag-alamang nagpositibo sa Covid-19.

“We have a Covid-19 task force that ensures the implementation of proactive measures to stop the further spread of this virus in our offices,” wika ni Morente.  “This is a major challenge to us right now, and we are hoping to overcome it soon.  Please bear with us as we stretch our manpower during this surge.  Our frontliners are getting sick, but we will make sure that the delivery of our services continue,” dagdag niya.
