ANG Asian Juniors and Girls Chess Championships ay sumulong na sa Knights Templar Hotel sa Tagaytay City kasabay ng malugod na pag-tanggap ni Philippine Olympic Committee President Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa 58 na partisipante na kumakatawan sa 11 bansang sumasabak sa 9- na araw na kumpetisyon.
“We are expecting great matches from these young Asian masters in the championships that give opportunity for our Filipino players to get grandmaster norm and international master [IM] norms,” wika ni Tolentino kaugnay ng kambal na paligsahan ng mga manlalarong nasa edad 20 at mas bata .
Si Tolentino na isang honorary member ng International Chess Federation o FIDE, nanungkulan bilang secretary general. Gayundin ay pinamunuan ang FIDE Southeast Asian Zone noong siya pa ang National Chess Federation of the Philippines’ (NCFP) secretary-general.
Si Cavite Vice Governor at NCFP Vice President Athena Bryana Tolentino ang nagsagawa ng ceremonial first moves kay top seed( girls), Woman IM Assel Serikbay ng Kazakhstan.
Ang naghaharing national juniors champion FIDE Master Alekhine Nouri at girls titlist Mhage Sebastian ang namuno sa kampanya ng bansa kabilang sina IMs Daniel Quizon, Michael Concio, Al-Basher Buto, Andrew James Toledo, Gabriel Ryan Paradero, Ronell Co at Marlon James Piel.
Ang nine-round Swiss system tournament ay inisponsoran ng Asian Chess Federation (ACF), Philippine Sports Commission at City of Tagaytay. Dumalo rin sa pambungad seremonya sina ACF Executive Board member Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh ng Iran at Appeals Committee members mula India, Guam, Iran, Malaysia at Kazakhstan.
