As the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) commemorates its 88th anniversary, this milestone is not merely a celebration of years passed but a reflection of a legacy defined by unselfish service to God, country, and people.
Established on December 21, 1935, the AFP has played a crucial role in shaping the destiny of the Philippines. Evolving from its roots as the Commonwealth Army to its contemporary multifaceted structure, the organization has navigated challenges and celebrated triumphs, leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s history. In recent years, the AFP has embraced modernization, technological advancements, and equipment upgrades, leveling up its capabilities and defense reliability.
In honor of 88 years of dedicated service, the AFP has engaged in a series of community service and stakeholder partnership forums. As part of these pre-anniversary activities, the AFP successfully orchestrated the simultaneous Christmas Decorations Lighting on December 1, 2023. This event marks the AFP’s anniversary commitment to the Filipino nation, shedding light on a 24/7 duty in securing the country during the yuletide season, aimed at uplifting morale and instilling the season’s spirit among its personnel.
On December 7, 2023, the Fun Run for the 88th AFP Anniversary was successfully executed, advocating this year’s theme: ‘Rising over the challenges in the service to the nation.’ The event, dubbed as a pre-anniversary activity, sought to cultivate camaraderie, promote physical fitness, engage with the community, and infuse a celebratory and positive atmosphere into the anniversary commemoration.
The recently concluded 3-day National Youth Convention, held at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City from December 7-10, 2023, was a resounding success. Sangguniang Kabataan Youth Leaders from different regions of the archipelago, alongside cadets from PMA, PNPA, PMMA, MAAP, and AFP OCS, converged at PMA for this significant activity. The convention emphasized rising disaster preparedness, Youth Leadership, and the AFP’s programs for the youth.
As a way ahead, the 88th-anniversary celebration of the Armed Forces of the Philippines is scheduled for December 21, 2023. This occasion serves as a testament to nearly nine decades of unwavering selfless dedication, resilience, and service to the nation. Far beyond a mere commemoration of the past, this celebration is a reaffirmation of the AFP’s commitment to mission accomplishment to secure a brighter and safer future for the nation. As we mark this milestone, we salute the AFP for its enduring commitment to the service of our nation.
With this, the PAF maintains back pressure and accelerates with excellence to stay tuned with the AFP’s flight path. (PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE)
