LGU CDO, DOST ILULUNSAD ANG DIGITAL EDUCATION SYSTEM SA 2 PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS

Nakatakdang ilunsad ng Local Government Unit ng Cagayan de Oro sa pamamagitan ng kanilang Local School Board at Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 19, ang digital education system sa dalawang public high schools sa siyudad, sa tulong ng innovation ng startup company na WELA Online Corp.


“The partnership involves introducing a smart educational system, in line with LGU CDO’s goal towards digital transformation and becoming a smart and sustainable city,” ayon sa DOST.

“The project aims to digitalize recording of academic reports, minimize redundancy of data input and reduce the number of needed grading forms to be filled-out by 75%; To enable real-time attendance tracking through an RFID system and mobile application; and to establish an effective, direct, and safe communication channel between teachers and parents through a mobile application,” dagdag pa nito.

Napili ang Pedro “Oloy” N. Roa High School at Puntod National High School bilang pilot public schools para sa pagpapatupad ng Smart Education
Technology, kung saan mahigit sa 3,000 estudyante at mahigit sa 100 guro ang inaasahang makikinabang sa programang ito.

“The time taken for academic report preparation is reduced from 14 days to an average of just two days, and the adaptation period for schools to the platform is cut down by 93% compared to traditional methods,” ayon sa ahensiya.

“The system also provides analytics on the student and class performance (attendance and grades), with an analytics dashboard that can track real-time the student attendance and grades. It also comes with a downloadable mobile application for Android and iOS operating systems that has a web-based system and a mobile application to track student performance. Lastly, it features a secured cloud-based servers for data storage with pertinent cybersecurity certifications (National Privacy Commission Registration stating compliance with Data Privacy Act of 2012 and DICT-recognized cybersecurity assessment provider),” dagdag pa nito.

Ang WELA Online Corp, ay isang multi-awarded CDO-homegrown tech startup na nakatutok sa Education Technology. Ipinagkakaloob ng naturang kompanya ang web-based school management systems at iba pang innovations sa mga pampubliko at pribadong paaralan.

Ang kompanya ay isang graduate incubatee`ng CDObites, isang ISTP-based Technology Business Incubator Initially na pinondohan ng DOST Philippine Council for Indutry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) noong Nobyembre 29 na may P3 million grant. Nanatiling commited ang Research Development and Innobvation Unit ng DOST-X para suportahan ang startups at Technology Business Incubators (TBIs) sa rehiyon, na naayon sa vision ng DOST na pasiglahin ang innovation-driven economy.
