IBINUNYAG ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) na apat na Pinoy ang sakay ng Portugese container ship MSC Aries, na ini-hijack ng Iranian authorites malapit sa Strait of Hormuz noong Sabado.
Matatagpuan ang Strait of Hormuz sa pagitan ng Persian Gulf at Gulf of Oman sa Middle East.
Tinalakay na ng DMW, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at licensed manning agency (LMA) – ang employment agency ng mga seafarer, at iba pa, ang mga alalahanin patungkol sa kaligtasan ng mga nasabing Filipino.
“Upon directive of the President, we are in touch with the families of our dear seafarers and have assured them of full government support and assistance,” ayon sa departamento.
“We are also in coordination with the DFA, the LMA, ship manager, and operator to ensure the safety and well-being, as well as work on the release of our dear seafarers,” dagdag pa nito.
