688 TRAFFICKING, ILLEGAL RECRUITMENT VICTIMS NASAGIP NG BI

Inihayag ng Bureau of Immigration na umabot sa 688 possible victims ng human trafficking at illegal recruitment ang nasagip ng mga opisyal nito bilang bahagi ng kanilang patuloy na pagpupursige upang labanan ang human trafficking sa port of exit ng bansa.

Sa isang pahayag, ibinunyag ni Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente pinigilan ng immigration officers ang pag-alis ng aabot sa 13,680 pasahero noong 2021, na karamihan ay dahil sa pagkakaroon ng hindi wastong dokumentasyon.

Ayon sa Travel Control and Enforcement Unit (TCEU) ng BI, sa nasabing bilang, 491 ang nakitang posibleng biktima ng human trafficking at itinurn-over sa Inter Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) para sa tulong at imbestigasyon.

Sa kabilang banda, umabot sa 197 biktima ang itinurn-over sa Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) na karamihan ay dahil sa paggamit ng peke o kuwestiyonableng overseas work permits at job contracts.

“There is still a large number of minors and underage victims posing as legitimate workers that were intercepted this year despite the pandemic and despite the continuous warnings we have issued,” saad ni Morente.

Iniulat ng BI na 326 minor at underage victims ang naharang noong 2021, kung saan 18 sa mga ito ay gumamit ng ibang pagkakakilanlan.

Napag-alaman sa forensic documents laboratory ng BI na may 34 dokumento na ipinakita sa departure ang dinaya o pineke lamang.

“Some common schemes that these human traffickers and illegal recruiters would employ is the issuance of fake documents or tampered visas to their victims, falsified marriages, the continued attempt to use tourist visas to work abroad, and duping underage Filipinos to work as household workers,” ani Morente.

Muli niyang binalaan ang aspiring overseas workers na huwag gumamit ng ganitong paraan para makapagtrabaho sa abroad.

“These illegal schemes have already been uncovered by the BI, and we keep on issuing warnings to our kababayan against them.  Do not fall prey to these scammers and traffickers, they will only give you false promises and put you in danger,” babala ni Morente.
