THE 560th Air Base Group (560ABG), Air Installation and Base Development Command (AIBDC), through its Civil-Military Operations (CMO) office, marked another significant month of community service and humanitarian efforts. The initiatives undertaken by the Group, ranging from health missions to educational support, showcased the Philippine Air Force’s dedication to uplifting and empowering communities across Cebu. Reaching Remote Communities: Isla Verde and Beyond The CMO team embarked on a mission to Isla Verde, a secluded community accessible only by boat. This visit aimed to understand the needs of the local population and bring joy to the children through games and prizes. Supported by donors like Ms. Carmela Bianca Diaz and Qualfon Company, the team distributed 100 pieces of Gardenia bread, ensuring that even the most remote areas felt the care and presence of the 560ABG.
Caring for the Elderly: A Heartfelt Contribution In another act of compassion, the 560ABG made a significant impact at the Ramon Durano Foundation, Home for the Aged in Danao City. By donating two large water filter jugs and 100 pieces of Breadtalk, At the CMO office, they ensured that the elderly residents had access to clean water and nutritious food.
This initiative underscored the Group’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Cebu’s vulnerable populations. Promoting Oral Health in Mandaue City The 560ABG, in collaboration with the 1304th Philippine Air Force Dental Dispensary and the Mactan Vanguard Eagles Club, conducted a Dental Mission in Barangay Cambaro, Mandaue City. With 89 patients receiving much-needed dental care, the mission provided more than just tooth extractions; it offered relief and care to those in need, reinforcing the Group’s role in promoting health and well-being in the community.
Empowering Education: Brigada Eskwela and Beyond Throughout the month, the 560ABG actively participated in several Brigada Eskwela initiatives across Cebu, including events at Mactan Air Base Elementary School, Marigondon National High School, and Babag II Elementary School. These activities involved cleanup drives, minor repairs, and community collaboration to create nurturing educational environments. The Group’s dedication was recognized with certificates of appreciation, highlighting their significant contributions to these schools and the broader community. Supporting Disaster Preparedness In a proactive move to enhance disaster readiness, the 560ABG delivered essential equipment to Barangay Tubod in Asturias. The donations, which included chainsaws, UHF handheld radios, and Life Straw water filtration units, were warmly received by the local communities and showcased the Group’s commitment to building resilience in vulnerable areas.
