20K PINOY PATAY SA DUTERTE DRUG WAR SA LOOB NG 17 BUWAN

UMABOT sa mahigit 20,000 drug suspects ang napaslang sa unang 17 buwan ng termino ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Sa pagdinig ng House Committee on Human Rights kaugnay sa madugo at brutal na giyera kontra droga, sinabi ni Atty. Chel Diokno na ang death toll na 20,322 ay galing mula sa 2017 year-end report ng Office of the President, kung saan nabanggit din ang isang resolusyon ng Korte Suprema na may petsang April 3, 2018.

“There has been much debate about how many persons have been killed in the war on drugs during the last administration, some of the estimates have been as low as 12,000 while the NGOs (non-government organizations) have put the figure at 30,000. But there is one number that is unassailable because this comes from the Office of the President,” ani Diokno.

Sa bilang na ito, 3,967 ang namatay sa police operations, habang ang nalalabing 16, 355 ay pinatay ng riding-in-tandem at hindi kilalang mga salarin, dagdag pa niya.

“All of these 20,322 who were killed were not sentenced by any court. They were sentenced by armed men,” saad ni Diokno said.

Inilusad ng House of Representatives Committee on Human Rights ng imbestigasyon kaugnay sa umano’y extrajudicial killing na may kaugnayan sa drug war policy ni Duterte.

Binuksan din ng International Criminal Court (ICC) ang imbestigasyon sa drug war killing, na ikinagalak ng mga pamilya ng drug war victims at human rights organizations.
