158 ALIENS NAARESTO NG BI

Umabot sa 158 aliens ang naaresto ng mga intelligence officers ng  Bureau of Immigration (BI) noong taong 2021 dahil sa paglawag sa Philippine immigration laws.

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, nadakip ang mga illegal na dayuhan sa mga operasyong isinagawa ng mga miyembro ng BI’s intelligence division sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa.

Ipinapakita ng istatistika na karamihan sa mga inaresto ay mga Chinese na umabot sa 86, sinundad ng Korean na may 37, at Nigerians na may 10.

Natimbog din ang 6 na Indians, 4 Americans, 4 British national, 3 Japanases, 2 Inodensians, isang Dutch, isang German, isang Tunisian, isang Cambodian, isang Lebanese, at isang Singaporean.

Sinabi ni Moreno na mas mababa ang naturang bilang kung ihahambing sa 510 na naaresto noong 2020 dahil sa pagpataw ng travel restriction para sa arriving foreigners.

 “Since only those with valid and existing long term visas are allowed entry in the country, we saw a major decrease in the number of foreign nationals in the Philippines,” wika ni Morente.  “Apart from that, many of those who were already in the country were repatriated back to their homelands,” dagdag niya.

Iniulat din ni BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. na ang unang Intelligence summit ay ginanap din virtually noong Disyembre 2021, na dinaluhan ng lahat ng BI intelligence units nationwide.
 

“The summit was an opportunity to share investigation techniques, as well as best practices to improve the manner of our operations,” ani Manahan.

Bukod sa 158 na naaresto ng intelligence division, nauna na rin ini-report ng BI na 83 puganteng dayuhan ang nadakip ng BI’s fugitive search unit, kaya umabot na sa 241 ang kabuuang naarestong aliens. “The pandemic has been a challenge for our operations,” samba ni Morente.  “However, we will not stop until we have rid the country of these illegal aliens who do not respect our laws.  We will find them, arrest them, and deport them,” babala pa niya.
