$14.5-B INVESTMENT, 15K TRABAHO, NAKALAP NI FM JR. SA JAPAN

Aabot sa US$14.5 bilyon ang ilalagak na puhunan ng mga Japanese corporation sa Pilipinas na lilikha ng 15,750 trabaho ang iniulat na bitbit ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. sa kanyang pagdalo sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – Japan Commemorative Summit sa Tokyo Japan.

“Kabilang sa mga sektor na tatanggap ng mga bagong investment ang industriya ng imprastruktura, business process outsourcing (BPO), retail, at electronics and ship manufacturing,” ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Saad ng pangulo, kabilang sa ipagkakaloob ng Japan ang pagpapalawig ng mga umiiral na kontrata.

“I am delighted to know that the letters of intent signed last February 2023 and those signed today now aggregate P771.6 billion or about US$14 billion in pledges from Japanese investors – expected to generate approximately 40,000 jobs,” saad ni Marcos.

“Your interest in doing business with us will surely help achieve mutual economic growth between the Philippines and Japan,” dagdag niya.

Sa isang event na pinangunahan ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) sa ASEAN-Japan summit, inihayag ni Frederick Go, na siyang pinangalanan bulang Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, na siyam na bagong memorandum of understanding (MOUs) na nagkakahalaga ng P14 bilyon ang nilagdaan sa pagitan ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas at mga negosyante ng Japan.

Idinagdag ni Go na nag-update na rin ang 20 Japanese companies sa pangulo kaugnay sa kanilang pledges mula sa kanyang Japan trip noong Pebrero.

“And on that part, we don’t know the exact number today, but ₱169 billion of actualized investments from the trip earlier this year,” saad niya.

Nakatutuok ang investment commitments sa mga development project sa New Clark City, Manila Japanese School sa Bonifactio Global City gauindin ang ventures sa electronic manufacturing at expansion ng furniture industry.
