NAPILI bilang Philippine standard -bearer si para swimmer Joseph Alegarbes sa pagsambulat ng 12th ASEAN Para Games sa Hunyo 3 na paparada sa Morodok Techno National Stadium sa Phnom Penh,Cambodia.
Si Alegarbes na triple gold medalist noong nakaraang edisyon ng Para Games sa Indonesia ay pormal na inanunsyo ang kanyang pagiging flag bearer ,ni Philippìne Sports Commission Commissioner Walter Torres sa idinaos na sendoff ceremony sa PICC Forum Bldg. Sa Pasay City.
“I am shoked but extremely happy by this honor.I could not believe it,”wika ni swimmer Alegarbes.
Ang pride ng Victoria,Negros Oriental na nagsimula sa swimming mula noong musmos pa siya at may kapansanang attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ay makakatuwang sa pagsungkit ng medalya ang kababayang limbless swimmer na potential gold medalist ding si Angel Otom.
Sinabi naman ni Philippine Paralympic Committee president Mike Barredo na..” Again as in the past,our goal is to do better than ever before.We are actually sending our biggest ever delegation to Cambodia.” Binubuo ang Philippine delegation ng 175 na atleta at 85 coaches at officials.
